How the EHG amount works

The EHG is tiered by income: the lower your average monthly household income, the larger the grant. Families receive the full $120,000 at an average income of $1,500 or below, tapering to $5,000 at the $8,501–$9,000 band. Singles receive up to $60,000, tapering similarly up to $4,500. This calculator shows the maximum you could receive; your actual EHG depends on your exact income tier, confirmed by HDB in your HFE letter.

Good to know

  • Grants above are for first-timer applicants buying a resale flat. Second-timers generally do not receive these grants (a separate Step-Up Grant may apply in specific cases).
  • The EHG requires at least 12 continuous months of employment at the point of application.
  • The Family Grant income ceiling is $14,000 ($21,000 for extended/multi-generation families).
  • Figures reflect rules effective 20 August 2024 (EHG raised to $120,000) and 14 February 2023 (Family Grant raised to $80,000).
